Ok, no one actually remembers exactly how this band got started. However, a few years back Anna and
Emma had discussed starting a band, but never really took the idea seriously. The two of them had jammed together in Emmas
attic, but it was just basically out of boredom. When they talked about it, Emma was to be the bassist, Anna the drummer,
and another friend of theirs was to be the singer/guitarist.
But, it didnt happen.
Anna and Emma started to get friendly with a girl they knew from school who happened to play
bass, Steph. Emma thought it over and realised that if they were to start a band it would be better if she switched to
guitar so that Steph could be the bass player...because Steph actually played bass while Emma was really a guitarist.
After many nights of hilarity, where the three of them sat and wrote ridiculous songs about cups,
turds, and sheep, and came up with totally retarded band names like The Super Strokable Carrots, and The Amputated Humans,
they came up with the less retarded (but still retarded) name Random Decision.
The three of them realised that if they actually wanted to get anywhere they would need a singer...
They thought long and hard about this, and came up with several suggestions that jst wouldnt
work, and they finally decided to ask Annas big cousin, Kat. And she was happy to help them out.
Well, it took the band several months to actually get started, as Steph didnt actually own a bass...
However, she got one for christmas (and what a purty one it was!) but, it still took the band a few
months to get started. In February, the band finally had some motivation to get started, they had a gig with a band from
Newcastle, 4 Hour Shut Up, in March (which was only a month away) and quite frankly, were crapping themselves. So they had
their first practise, and they learned their first song Take Me Away, from the Freaky Friday Soundtrack.
For this gig they managed to learn another two songs, Money from the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack
(originally by The Beatles) and Take The Reins, by Tsunami Bomb.
The whole band loved the experience of their first gig, and since then have had a lot more.
Somewhere inbetween March and June the band ditched the name Random Decision, and after trying out several other names, stuck
with the name Hoax.
